Discover our Group Legal Services division
In our central legal division Group Legal Services and its three teams Corporate Matters, Claims & Reinsurance and Compliance, we handle everything to do with compliance and legal matters. As lawyers, we offer our colleagues worldwide centralised legal advice. Our aim is to protect and safeguard the legal position of the Hannover Re Group. We look after our reinsurance operations, provide compliance support and advise on various areas including corporate, capital markets, financial and IT law. Find out more here:

What competencies do we need?
Our work is as diverse as the people who make up our team. Consultancy skills and assertiveness, strategic negotiating skills and an analytical mindset are a good foundation. Although professional experience in the (re)insurance business is a prerequisite for some of our roles, experienced lawyers will also find exciting and varied opportunities with us outside this core legal area, for example in the replacement of entire policy portfolios or in the providing operational legal support of complex claims.
We value these skills:
- A law degree with completed 2nd state bar examination, degree in business law or a comparable international qualification; but we also welcome bright minds without a law degree – especially in the area of compliance.
- Basic experience in the review, drafting and negotiation of contracts and other legal documents is particularly needed in Corporate Matters and Claims & Reinsurance.
- Professional experience in an international context.
- Knowledge of national and international sanctions and embargo regulations.
