Actuarial
We are a registered training office for the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA), and we are committed to develop our actuarial talent by offering sponsorship and support towards qualification. There are pure technical roles (reserving, valuations, pricing), as well as less traditional roles (business development, underwriting systems), where employees can sharpen their actuarial and business skills.

Finance
Finance is one of the critical functions within our business, offering opportunities for candidates with a keen eye for detail, and a strong interest in finance and its technical aspects, to build technical competence through challenging and meaningful work. Hannover Re is a registered training office for the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Opportunities exist for eligible candidates to complete their articles and qualify as Chartered Accountants, while developing technical skills and knowledge within the reinsurance industry.

Underwriting and Claims
These functions are core to our business operations to sell reinsurance solutions and pay valid claims. Careers offer solution-oriented, methodical thinkers the chance to apply our underwriting and claims philosophy, while balancing client and business requirements.

Complete all mandatory fields, attach an updated résumé, cover letter (as applicable to the role), and all relevant certificates.

The applicant’s suitability to the role is reviewed by the HR representative and hiring manager.

If the applicant is shortlisted, they may be invited to participate in assessments and/or two to three interviews that will give them the opportunity to learn more about the role and team.

Various checks are conducted during the process, including reference, credit, qualification, and criminal background checks.

If the candidate is successful they will receive a job offer. More information related to onboarding and induction is provided after the candidate accepts.
