Littlewoods Services Pty. Ltd. Limited was appointed to provide administration, claims, regulatory- and accounting services whilst underwriting remained in Hannover.

In 2004, the the branch took over the facultative underwriting operation and treaty property & casualty followed in 2012 at which time all functions were effectively performed locally.

The branch and business have since developed further and moved to L33, 100 Barangaroo Avenue into new premises in March 2018. In the same year a few months later, the transition to a fully-fledged operation with all services was completed and the previously outsourced functions are now performed in-house.

Today Hannover Re is the 3rd largest property & casualty reinsurer in Australia and underwrites all classes of property & casualty treaty and facultative business. It is led by Michael Eberhardt as Branch Manager. Ross Littlewood is the Agent and Michael Marx the Senior Officer Outside Australia (SOOA). The combination of local accessibility and global knowledge allows us to provide flexible, innovative and competitive reinsurance solutions for our business partners.

Hannover Re considers the Australasian region to be of high strategic importance for the Hannover Re Group. We offer support for all lines of business on the property & casualty side to our clients.

Treaty property and casualty as the largest source of income is core to the operation and we are a long-term partner to most of our clients.

The Sydney based treaty team holds broad underwriting authorities and benefits from the full global expertise of the Group. We have become one of the leading facultative markets in Australasia by focusing on quick response times due to our locally empowered underwriters.

Reinsurance service process functions including claims management are all performed locally.
